Hansel and Gretel: A happy ending for the day before my birthday

The day before my birthday has always been a complicated date. I admit, I'm glad when people wish me a happy birthday, and I'm sorry when people can't find five minutes of their time to write to me even on June 25. My public wish for tomorrow is to be able, someday, to get together with the people I have loved and love, perhaps under the sky of Turin, and for my birthday lunch to eat a nice plate of mussels together with the people I have loved and love, and will likely love for the rest of my life.Having closed the stove door, Gretel ran to Hansel to tell him the great news. Then she found the keys to the coop and freed her brother. "Let's try looking: all witches hide treasures in the house!" proposed Hansel, and after rummaging all over the place the two brothers found a large chest full of gold and precious stones. They filled their pockets with them and left the fairy house. They went through the woods, came to a pond and asked a beautiful duck to show them the way home. The duck got the boys on its back and carried them to the other shore. With a brisk "quaqua" he marked them a distant spot in the woods. The children headed there and found themselves in a clearing familiar to them. With their hearts in their throats, they reached their little house, where their father sat disconsolate in a corner: his wife had died of a broken heart and he could not forgive himself for abandoning his little children in the woods! When he saw Hansel and Gretel he embraced them weeping with joy. With the witch's treasure, they lived quietly for the rest of their lives and never left each other again.
